Young Survival Coalition is Awarded Support for YSC Building Bridges through the AstraZeneca US ACT on Health Equity 2025 National Strategic Collaborations
New York, NY – February 11, 2026 – Young Survival Coalition (YSC) has received support from AstraZeneca US through its 2025 Accelerate Change Together (ACT) on Health Equity: National Strategic Collaborations for YSC Building Bridges: Biomarker Training for Community Health Workers (CHWs) and Spanish-Language Toolkit for Young Adults Affected by Breast Cancer. YSC Building Bridges focuses on precision medicine and biomarker education serving young Latinx and Spanish-speaking adults diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as community health workers who support them.
As part of ACT on Health Equity, AstraZeneca US is working to improve access, affordability, and outcomes for all people in the disease areas and communities they serve. This contribution stems from AstraZeneca’s US commitment to advance health equity and foster a healthy society and people by focusing on eliminating disparities in care. YSC Building Bridges aims to ensure patients receive the right treatment at the right time and culturally and linguistically appropriate education. Using a dual approach, YSC will directly engage patients while equipping trusted community-based health workers to extend reach and impact. The intended outcomes are reduced barriers to care, improved understanding of treatment options, and better health outcomes in underserved communities.
Jennifer Merschdorf, YSC’s chief executive officer, says, “Through AstraZeneca's support for YSC Building Bridges, YSC is ensuring young Latinx and Spanish-speaking patients receive precision medicine education and treatment guidance that is culturally relevant and in their native language, delivered by voices they trust.”
Through ACT on Health Equity, AstraZeneca US has provided $18 million in contributions to over 160 nonprofit organizations across the country that are dedicated to advancing health equity through the support of community-based nonprofit programming that prioritize the social, cultural and linguistic needs of communities that have experienced barriers to care and opportunity.
