Partners on a Mission: Serving Young Breast Cancer Survivors

Young Breast Cancer Survivors on a Mission

Twenty years ago, 12 young women met in the house of a fellow young breast cancer survivor. While breast cancer awareness was growing by 1998, a lack of resources and information specific to their experiences as young women, left this group frustrated and feeling isolated. Many had never even met another young survivor before.

From this grassroots movement, the Young Survival Coalition (YSC) has blossomed into the largest and oldest nonprofit dedicated to issues critical to women diagnosed before their 40th birthday. We offer resources, connections and outreach to thousands of women each year, so they feel supported, empowered and hopeful.

20 Years, 10 Events, 1 YSC

To celebrate our 20th anniversary, we are harnessing the power, commitment and passion of our community with 10 events across the country. These events provide an opportunity for supporters, partners, friends and family to participate in YSC’s mission by witnessing our vibrant community in action and making sure no young adult faces breast cancer alone.

All 10 events take place throughout the fall of 2018 and will toast our founders and YSC Game Changers, people who have dedicated their lives to advancing YSC’s work.

Partnerships for Good

No nonprofit achieves 20 years without the generous support of dedicated partners. YSC is grateful for the partnership of these two exceptional companies that not only enable us to fuel our mission, but are supporting all of our 20th anniversary events at the GOLD level.

Celgene, a global company committed to improving the lives of patients, has supported YSC’s initiatives for many years. Their generosity has helped YSC put on quality programs such as Sync, the YSC National Summit, and most recently YSC’s 20th Anniversary celebrations.

Lilly Oncology, whose work focuses on metastatic disease, is another YSC partner that helps us provide essential support, programs and services. They  have sponsored the YSC National Summit and metastatic-specific resources for YSC’s metastatic survivors and co-survivors.

#InLivingPink, Our Lived Experiences

From our first meeting in 1998, YSC has worked to amplify the lived experiences of young adults affected by breast cancer. We call these our #InLivingPink moments because we live with the heartbreak, joy, and everything in between every day.

During October, YSC will encourage everyone to share #InLivingPink moments to connect fellow survivors, co-survivors and supporters through the power of our individual stories. These can be the day of your diagnosis, the day you realized you weren’t alone, the day you met your survivor soul sister, the moment you rode your first Tour de Pink, or your first Summit.

Share Your #InLivingPink Moment

Share your story online using the hashtag #InLivingPink to make sure no young adult faces breast cancer alone. We will reach out to selected stories to be featured on YSC.
