Meet Leena
Leena Nehru MSW, LCSW, OSW-C has been a social worker for the last 20 years. Currently she is a certified oncology social worker at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital Cancer Center since 2014. Leena is a licensed clinical social worker in both the state of Georgia and Florida. Currently Leena coordinates the support groups at the cancer center and leads several of the support groups. Leena also works diligently with her patients, caregivers and with the interdisciplinary team in advocating for her patients. She is also involved in several other projects at the Cancer Center. She has also done several presentations regarding social work and cancer care.
Leena has had numerous leadership roles within the NASW-GA chapter as the mentorship program chair (2014) and the NASW-FL chapter as the Unit chair for the Treasure Coast Unit (2012) and as the Unit Secretary for the same chapter (2011).
Through her many years as a social worker she has worked in various areas of the healthcare field such as with the elderly, hospice, psychiatric, nursing homes and the hospitals. Leena has had the benefit of working in several different states as well as with different clientele from varied socioeconomic backgrounds.
Leena graduated with her BSW and MSW from Florida International University in Miami, FL. She has also been a field instructor for Social Work students both here in GA and FL. In her free time she enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, participating in cultural programs and giving back to her community. She is married with two teens and lives in Marietta, GA.
