Meet Kandice
Kandice Ludwig, M.D. is a practicing breast surgeon in Indianapolis, IN. She is originally from Metairie, LA, and received her medical degree at LSU School of Medicine. After completing a general surgery residency at Texas A&M-Scott & White Hospital in Temple, TX, she served as a fellow at the University of Michigan in Breast Surgical Oncology. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine and is a practicing breast surgeon in Indianapolis.
Dr. Ludwig was first informed of the work of Young Survival Coalition in 2007 from a patient. This patient expressed that young women may find it difficult to find support in the more traditional breast cancer support groups, as they experience different concerns and needs than older patients. The YSC filled that void and more. As a mother of 2 small children herself, Dr. Ludwig can empathize with the challenges of being a wife, mother, and career woman. Women tend to put their health on hold in order to serve others.
Since that time, Dr. Ludwig has been dedicated to providing the highest quality of care for her patients within the Indianapolis area. She is also active nationally, having authored book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles, reviewing manuscripts for well-known cancer journals, and serving on national committees. She looks forward to becoming more active within the YSC to serve the needs of our young women.
