Meet Danielle
Danielle encountered cancer for the first time when her mother was diagnosed with Stage III (ER+/PR+/HER2-) breast cancer. Her mother's diagnosis turned her life upside-down and influenced both her academic and career trajectories. Danielle is now a fourth year student studying Public Health and Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. She aspires to earn her Master of Public Health in Cancer Epidemiology and apply to medical school to become an oncologist. She spends her free time volunteering for Camp Kesem, an organization that supports children whose parents have been touched by cancer. Since starting college, she has spent her summers working as an intern at City of Hope in Duarte, California, in the divisions of Cancer Epidemiology and Medical Oncology. She first encountered YSC three years ago when she rode the Tour de Pink with her mother and was a co-survivor speaker at the 2018 Tour de Pink West ride. Danielle looks forward to advocating for young survivors and their co-survivors under YSC. She hopes to embolden women of all ages by demonstrating that they are never too young or too old to fight for a cause they are passionate about.
