Lyn D Diagnosed at age 40
Sharing my story of hope, faith, encouragement and fighting through this war that was cancer.
Today it’s been 20 days since I AM CANCER FREE.
January 2022 I was scheduled for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. During the mammogram, a doctor came in and told me I needed a biopsy and that he could do it in 3 days. After 2 weeks I was called in and was told the result. I remember I was sitting in doctor’s office hearing those words “you have breast cancer.”
In response I said, “Ah okay, sorry doc can you repeat again?” It’s like I couldn’t believe the words that came out of his mouth. So, he repeated it three times.
A few weeks later I had an appointment with the surgeon. In less than a month I had lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed. After 10 days I got the result, the cancer spread all over my breast, so they need to do another surgery. After a one-month recovery from 2 surgeries. I have meeting with an oncologist. Scheduling me for my fourth cycle of chemotherapy every 21 days. It was the hardest part of the treatment. August 2022 I had an appointment to the radiologist, afterwards, I went through 20 sessions of radiation.
8 months passed; I am blessed to say that I am now cancer-free. I am truly grateful for this moment and to all the support I received from family and friends.
For the people who are facing cancer, continue fighting and never give up hope!
