Latonya Diagnosed at age 32

"I travel and speak at different events about breast cancer and just surviving. God didn't have me go through this for nothing."

Latonya

I'm a native of Sumter, SC, born October 23, 1975. The daughter of the late James Wilson Jr. and Lucille McFadden Wilson with three brothers (one passed in 1995), and one sister. My parents believed in working for the Lord. They had me and my siblings in every activity you could think of in church. I graduated in 1993 and pursued my career in the United States Army where I served 12 years and 9 months. In 2006 I separated from the Army and started my career as a Government Contractor working overseas in Afghanistan.

In December 2007, at the age of 32, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I returned home to South Carolina where I was treated with eight sessions of chemotherapy and 36 sessions of radiation. After my treatments were done I returned back to Afghanistan. In 2012 I transitioned to Kuwait. While working in Kuwait my breast cancer returned. That was 2013 and I was 37 years old. I then had a double mastectomy and refused reconstructive surgery. In December of 2015 I took a position in Iraq. April 2016 I came home on vacation and was diagnosed with breast cancer for the 3rd time. Stage IV with Mets to the lining of the lung. My support team is huge. My family and friends help me forget sometimes that I have an incurable disease. I travel and speak at different events about breast cancer and just surviving. God didn't have me go through this for nothing.
