I was diagnosed at the age of 36, one month before my 37th birthday.

I was originally told I had Stage zero, DCIS, and if I was to have cancer, this was the best type for me to have. I knew that not having any cancer would be the best thing, but that was not my case. After three biopsies, I was told the following week that I had cancer. But that was not all. What I thought would be a road bump in life, turned out to be what I now refer to as "my journey." I also went through genetic testing and it came back that I was BRCA II positive.

I had decided to have a double mastectomy with reconstruction. I wanted this over and I wanted to move on with my life. I had waited (Ok'd by my Dr's) to have the surgery. So on September 9, two months to the day I was diagnosed, I went info surgery. After that, I had my expanders in and had been on my way to having the implant transfer surgery when my ONCO test results came back.

Too high for my doctor to ignore, on top of being BRAC II positive, I had no choice but to have chemo. I decided to do fertility for a month to see if we could freeze any eggs/embryos. I started chemo in November of 2014 and finished in February of 2016. In March, I was able to have the implant transfer surgery and in April I lost my job.

It has been a long road, and I am grateful every day to those who have been there to support me and be on this journey with me.
