In 2014, I felt a lump in my right breast. After several types of imaging and a biopsy, I found out it was cancer. Most likely DCSI and I was looking at a lumpectomy and radiation. Upon having an MRI, we realized that the DCIS was quite widespread throughout the breast and mastectomy was recommended. I chose nipple and skin sparing bilateral mastectomy which was performed in July of 2014. The final diagnosis revealed that I had multiple foci of IDC in addition to the DCIS.

Chemo was recommended but I wound up getting pregnant with my son before treatment started. I delivered my son in April 2015 and started chemo in June. I completed 12 rounds of taxol and herceptin and went to just herceptin at the end of August. I completed that in April of 2016 and had a great year. My husband and I were trying for a second child and had a miscarriage in May of 2017. Shortly after I felt another lump in my right reconstructed breast. I was diagnosed with a recurrence of IDC. I just underwent simple mastectomy and I am waiting to start chemo again.
