Amy Diagnosed at age 21

"I am now 23, cancer free, back to lifting weights in the gym, and about to graduate college."

Amy

I was just moving back to College Station, TX for the 2015 Spring semester at Texas A&M University where I am completing my undergrad. On my drive back I noticed a strange hard lump on my left breast as I was casually scratching. I made an appointment at the campus clinic to get it checked out. As soon as the Dr felt it she recommended for me to get an ultrasound. I did. As soon as the results were back I was immediately advised to stop taking my birth control (at the time I didn't understand why) and to schedule a biopsy at a nearby hospital. I did. My step mom and dad drove from Austin and were with me now.

A few days later the Dr made me come in for my results. I did. She said, "we really didn't think it would come back as this...it came back as cancer." Ouch! It was almost my 22nd birthday. They had a woman ready to walk us over to the cancer clinic across the street and meet with an oncologist right away. They gave us all kinds of resources, answers, options, you name it.

The cancer clinic team took very good care of me. From diagnosis, to chemo, to any questions in between, they were amazing to me. I am now 23, cancer free, back to lifting weights in the gym, and about to graduate college.
