full-size invitation to this year's event.)

YSC Central Ohio began in 2002 when co-founders Jill Hymer and Anna Cluxton met at the Annual Conference for Young Women Affected by Breast Cancer. Jennifer Wolfe joined them in 2003 and began to help build the foundation of volunteers that make up the Chapter.

Soon they developed into a networking group and hosted support groups at a local hospital and the Wellness Community. In 2005, the group officially affiliated with the YSC as the Central Ohio Chapter. Our Executive Council consists of local leaders in the media, breast cancer and fundraising fields. It is our goal to reach out to young women newly diagnosed with breast cancer, those post-treatment and living with advanced breast cancer, along with the medical community, and other breast cancer organizations to decrease the sense of isolation felt by young women affected by breast cancer and create a welcoming and educated community.

YSC Central Ohio has earned a reputation of professionalism, organized outreach and willingness to collaborate. We participate in community health fairs, outreach events and are the go-to contacts for the press for stories on young women and breast cancer. We have sat on the Community Advisory Board of the Ohio State University Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Roundtable and were fundamental in the adoption of the Ohio Breast Cancer License Plate and the money it goes to – the Breast Cancer Fund of Ohio. In 2004, we collaborated with the American Cancer Society for their first-ever statewide Reach to Recovery training specifically targeted to young breast cancer survivors. In 2006, we launched an educational lecture series for young breast cancer survivors. These programs are co-hosted with various hospitals and other nonprofits from around Central Ohio. In 2007 and 2008, we will continue this unique opportunity for young survivors to learn more and "survive and thrive!" Visit our Events page for information on upcoming events.

Our success is dependant on the work of our volunteers! We hold monthly Volunteer Nights and quarterly Volunteer Orientations. To get on our Volunteer e-vite list, email ysccentralohio@youngsurvival.org.
